Magenta Network Priority, motion tests

Video model tests

Kling 2.5 against Seedance 1.5 Pro on the twelve shots that decide whether a storyboard concept can be produced. Same start frame, same prompt, two takes per model.

What each shot has to prove

Every shot isolates one motion problem that a concept depends on. Watch the four takes against the criterion, then pick the model that holds the criterion in both takes rather than the one with the single best clip.

Judging criteria
ShotWhat to judge
S01Clock flipDigits change from 16:59 to 17:00 without smearing or inventing characters
S02InvasionFour bodies and a dog enter in one take without morphing into each other
S03PitchSpeech looks natural, hands stay hands, the call grid reads as live
S04Freeze gagThe face holds absolutely still while only the pixelation moves
S05CharmThe laugh reads as real and the gestures land on the beat
S06BufferingA steady spinner plus four separate head turns, with the 3D look intact
S07WitnessFlicker and a breathing light while everything else stays locked
S08AsleepMicro motion only, breathing and flicker, nothing dramatic invented
S09PulseClean rings radiate from the seam across both halves without colour bleed
S10Fist bumpTwo hands meet across the seam with solid contact, no pass through
S11Tablet freezeA live boy against a screen that stays genuinely frozen except the spinner
S12OmaReal emotion, tears and a laugh, without the face drifting

Test setup

  • Two models, two takes each, in the same order on every row: Kling 2.5 first, Seedance 1.5 Pro second.
  • Every take starts from the selected storyboard frame, so differences come from motion and not from a new image.
  • The prompt describes motion and camera only. It never restyles the frame, and faces and wardrobe stay as generated.
  • No text, no captions, and no logos are requested, so type treatment stays a post production decision.
  • A shot passes when both takes of a model hold the criterion. One lucky take is not a result.
S01Shot

Clock flip

Can the model change a digital readout from 16:59 to 17:00 cleanly? Hook of board 1.

Start frame for S01, clock flip
Start frameboard-01/frame-01.jpg

Motion prompt

Static locked camera on the oven display. The digits hold on 16:59 for two seconds, then change to 17:00 with a soft glow. A thin band of warm window light drifts slowly across the steel. Nothing else moves. No text apart from the digits already on the display.

S02Shot

Invasion

Multi character entrance with a dog, the hero motion of board 1.

Start frame for S02, invasion
Start frameboard-01/frame-03.jpg

Motion prompt

The front door swings fully open toward the camera. The red haired boy runs in first holding his blue tablet, the teenage girl with the headset follows, the father with grocery bags steps in last, the small dog jumps past them. Slight handheld camera shake, natural motion, warm light flares briefly as the door opens. Faces stay as in the image.

Talking head realism, subtle hands, laptop grid alive.

Start frame for S03, pitch
Start frameboard-01/frame-02.jpg

Motion prompt

The woman speaks confidently toward the laptop, small natural hand gestures, a slight head tilt, then a brief smile. The six people on the laptop screen nod subtly. Slow push in toward her face. Warm afternoon light, shallow depth of field, no camera cuts.

Freeze gag

Hold a frozen grimace while the pixelation crawls, the comedy beat of board 2.

Start frame for S04, freeze gag
Start frameboard-02/frame-01.jpg

Motion prompt

The man's face stays completely frozen in the grimace, not a blink, not a breath, like a stalled video call. Only the blocky pixelation crawls and shifts across his face and the colour tearing flickers. The laptop screen glow pulses faintly. Locked camera, no other motion.

Natural laugh and gestures, the payoff of board 2.

Start frame for S05, charm
Start frameboard-02/frame-06.jpg

Buffering

Spinning wheel plus four slow head turns in the 3D style, opener of board 3.

Start frame for S06, buffering
Start frameboard-03/frame-01.jpg

Motion prompt

The buffering wheel on the TV spins continuously. The four family members slowly turn their heads to glare at each other, one raises an eyebrow, the small boy hugs his tablet tighter. Very slow dolly in toward the sofa. Keep the stylised 3D look and the dark noir lighting.

Witness

Spotlight flicker and a breathing router light, the funniest still of board 3.

Start frame for S07, witness
Start frameboard-03/frame-05.jpg

The spotlight flickers twice like an old stage lamp. The router's magenta light breathes slowly, brighter and dimmer. Dust motes drift through the light beam. A slow dolly in toward the chair. Stylised 3D look, everything else stays still.

Asleep

Micro motion: breathing, dog, TV flicker, the restraint of board 4.

Start frame for S08, asleep
Start frameboard-04/frame-05.jpg

Motion prompt

The sleeping man breathes slowly, his chest rising, his mouth twitching once. The dog shifts its head and settles again. The football match on the TV plays with players moving, and its glow flickers on the room. Locked handheld camera with the slightest drift. Nothing dramatic happens.

Pulse

Magenta waves radiating from the router across the split, the resolve of board 5.

Start frame for S09, pulse
Start frameboard-05/frame-05.jpg

Motion prompt

The magenta light on the router pulses, and clean magenta light waves radiate outward in rings from the centre seam across both halves. The gamer on the left and the woman on the right exhale and relax, their screens stabilise. Slow push in on the router. Black background, neon look preserved.

Two people making contact across a seam, the hardest motion in board 5.

Start frame for S10, fist bump
Start frameboard-05/frame-06.jpg

Start frameboard-06/frame-03.jpg

Motion prompt

The boy is alive: he points at his missing tooth, opens his mouth wider, his eyes flick to the tablet expectantly. The tablet screen stays completely frozen in blocky pixels with only the white loading circle spinning. Warm backlight, slow push in on the boy, no cuts.

Start frame for S12, oma
Start frameboard-06/frame-05.jpg

The grandmother on the tablet screen presses her hand to her heart, her eyes fill with tears, and she laughs with joy, leaning closer to the camera. Soft lens flare drifts across the frame. The tablet and the kitchen around it stay still. Gentle slow push in.
